Electrical Troubleshooting & Repairs in
Olathe & Kansas City Metro
Flickering lights, a room that went dead, a breaker that will not hold, or half the house dark — Spark Doc Electric diagnoses the actual fault and fixes it. Licensed, same-day when we can, 5-year warranty on the work. Call (913) 390-3780 or book online.
How Spark Doc Diagnoses a Problem
Guessing is how you replace the wrong part and still have a dead kitchen. We isolate the circuit, test the connections, and find the fault — loose neutral, failed breaker, GFCI upstream, damaged splice, overloaded bus — then we fix that.
- Walk the symptoms with you — when it started, what was running, what you already tried
- Check the panel first: tripped breakers, heat, odor, loose bus, double-taps
- Meter the circuit — voltage, continuity, GFCI/AFCI behavior — not just “reset and hope”
- Open the likely devices: dead outlets, switches, junctions, and the last-working receptacle on a daisy chain
- Repair on the spot when the fix is clear; quote honestly if the panel or wiring is the real issue
If the box is the problem — not a single circuit — we will say so. That may be a panel replacement or a 100A–200A panel upgrade, not another breaker swap.
What to Do Before We Arrive
A few notes from you save time on site. Do not keep resetting a breaker that trips immediately. Do not ignore a burning smell or visible sparks — that is an emergency, not a DIY afternoon.
- Note which rooms or appliances went out, and whether it is one circuit or half the house
- Check GFCI buttons in baths, garage, kitchen, and outdoors — one tripped GFCI can kill a string of outlets
- If a breaker will not stay on, leave it off and call. Forcing it is how panels get damaged
- Smoke, flames, or a hot panel: get out and call 911, then Spark Doc at (913) 390-3780

These are the problems Kansas City homeowners call about most. Each page is the deeper guide — this hub is how we diagnose across them, not a copy-paste of those pages.
Flickering Lights
Loose connections, a failing breaker, voltage drop, or a bad switch. Flicker that moves from room to room is not “just the bulbs.”
Flickering lights guide →Partial Power Outage
Half the house dark, or 120V loads dead while 240V still runs, often points at a lost leg or a failed main. Do not keep resetting.
Partial outage guide →Breakers That Keep Tripping
Overload, a short, a failing breaker, or an AFCI that is doing its job. We find which one instead of handing you a bigger breaker.
Tripped breaker guide →Dead Outlets
One receptacle or a whole wall. Backstabbed wires, a tripped GFCI three rooms away, or an open hot — we trace it.
Dead outlet guide →Sparking at the Panel
Sparks, crackling, or scorch marks at the breaker box are not a wait-until-Monday item. Shut it down if you can do so safely.
Sparking panel guide →24/7 Electrical Emergency
Burning smell, visible sparks, total outage, flooding near the panel. Spark Doc Electric answers after hours across the metro.
