EV Charger Installation FAQ

What is a Level 2 EV charger?
A Level 2 charger uses a 240-volt dedicated circuit to charge your EV much faster than a standard 120V outlet. Most EVs gain 20–30 miles of range per hour on Level 2, vs. 3–5 miles per hour on Level 1. For daily driving, Level 2 home charging is a game-changer.
Do I need a panel upgrade to install an EV charger?
Not always. If your panel has available capacity and open breaker slots, we can add a dedicated 240V circuit without upgrading. If your panel is already near capacity or undersized, an upgrade may be needed. We assess your panel during the quote.
How long does EV charger installation take?
Most home EV charger installations take 2–4 hours. The main variables are the distance from your panel to the garage and whether conduit is required.
Can you install a Tesla Wall Connector or other brand-specific charger?
Yes. We install all major brands including Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint Home Flex, Enel X JuiceBox, Grizzl-E, Emporia, and others. We can also install a universal NEMA 14-50 outlet that works with any EV's adapter cable.
Is a permit required for EV charger installation?
Yes, in most jurisdictions in Kansas and Missouri. Spark Doc Electric handles all permitting as part of the installation — we pull the permit, complete the work, and coordinate the inspection.
